This policy explains what data The Clay Desk (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://theclaydesk.com, how we use it, and what rights you have. If you have questions, email us at theclaydeskjenny@gmail.com.
1. What data we collect
Data you give us directly
If you subscribe to our email newsletter or contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We do not collect this data unless you actively provide it.
Data collected automatically
When you visit the site, standard server log data is collected automatically, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and the pages you visit. This data is used for security and to understand how the site is being used.
2. Analytics
This site uses [TK: analytics provider – e.g. Google Analytics, Fathom, Plausible] to understand aggregate traffic patterns. [TK: if using Google Analytics, add: “Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish users and sessions. Data is transmitted to and stored on Google servers. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.”]
We do not use analytics to build individual profiles or to track you across other websites.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use cookies for:
- Analytics: to count visits and understand how pages are used (see section 2 above).
- Affiliate tracking: when you click an affiliate link, the retailer’s site sets its own cookies to attribute any purchase to us. We do not control those cookies (see section 4).
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from reading the site, though some features may work differently.
4. Affiliate links and third parties
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer may set tracking cookies on your device and will share aggregated transaction data with us. We do not receive your name, payment details, or billing address. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.
This site may embed content or load resources from third-party services (for example, fonts or images hosted externally). Those services may collect data according to their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
5. Email newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by our email service provider, [TK: provider name – e.g. Mailchimp, ConvertKit], whose privacy policy applies to that data. We use your email address only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
6. How we use your data
- To operate and improve the site
- To send the newsletter to subscribers who have opted in
- To respond to enquiries sent to us directly
- To detect and prevent security issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
7. Data retention
Server logs are retained for [TK: e.g. 90 days] and then deleted. Newsletter subscriber data is held until you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to resolve the matter it relates to.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable data protection law, including:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to request deletion of your data
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing
- The right to data portability
- [TK: GDPR – if applicable] The right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (in the UK: the ICO; in the EU: your local data protection authority)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at theclaydeskjenny@gmail.com. We will respond within [TK: e.g. 30 days] in line with applicable law.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13 [TK: or 16 in the EU under GDPR]. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
